Major complaints from long-time players of the Sims series are that the 4th installment of the game has a less defined focus on relationships between the player’s sims, lacks the open-world elements that the 3d Sims game introduced, and abolishes features such as cars, pools, and basements. The Sims 4, for the most part, sticks to the core elements of the previous three installments, but there are also some notable differences that people who’ve played and enjoyed the previous games may not be particularly happy about.
It all adds to the overall theme of providing the player with a realistic, yet light-hearted, representation of the life of real people. The different sims can bond with one another, get in fights, engage in activities together, form friendships or romantic relationships, fall apart, have children together, and more. Interactions and relationships between the player’s sims also play a large role in the gameplay of all of the Sims games. The only limitation (depending on the chosen game mode) is the finances of the sim or family of sims that would be living in said home.

The player gets full freedom of what type of house or apartment their sims would live in and is allowed to choose the furniture, commodities, and any other part of the interior design. The base game lacks a specific objective – instead, the focus is placed on giving the player freedom to choose what actions their sims would perform and what choices they will make in their everyday lives to see how that would affect their futures. For those unfamiliar with The Sims games, core gameplay in each installment revolves around controlling and taking care of simulated persons (called sims) in a realistic simulation of their lives. The Sims 4, developed by Maxis and published by EA Games in 2014, is the fourth installment in the popular game series of the same name. You can get Sims 4 on your Mac by first downloading the Origin app, logging into your EA Games account, purchasing the game, and installing it through Origin. Sims 4 is playable on Mac through the EA Games’ Origins platform.
